Fox Point is one of the East Side's oldest neigborhoods and is now the home to exciting new re-development. Fox Point was was the original landing point in 1636 of Rhode Island's founder, Roger Williams, who upon embarking from his boat was welcomed by the native American Indians with the famous greeting, "What Cheer, Netop." It was from Fox Point that the early American patriot John Brown rallied a group of sailors to board longboats and row down Narragansett Bay to set fire to HMS Gaspee in 1772, the first act of rebellion against the British Crown.

Fox Point is home to a fine collection of Greek Revival houses built in the early 1800's mainly by people who were involved in early Providence's bustling maritime trade. India Point Park takes its name from from this era's significant trade with the West Indies. Today there is a small marina and one of the first successful mill conversions to residential living at Corliss Landing. Wickenden Street is the heart of commercial life in the neighborhood with many funky, eclectic restaurants, bars, coffee houses, antique stores and shops. You will also find our Residential Properties, LTD office at the corner of Wickenden and Benefit Streets.

Fox Point has a youthful, dynamic vibe with many college students living in multi-family rentals along the up and coming Ives Street and Governor Street corridors. There are also many historic single family houses in the neighborhood as well as condo conversions, one of the more unusual ones being a church on East Street that was transformed from a house of worship into condos.
